Bata pa lang ako, curious na ako about makeup. My mum would put makeup on me pag ginagawa ako flowergirl sa kasal ng mga kaibigan nya or kapag my school event or sa graduation. Feeling special kapag nakamakeup 😚

Nung HS naman, in the province, you won’t see students with “pakak” na makeup on a regular day. I think it’s a different story now with all the affordable makeup and the beauty tools available today. 😆 Back then, “polbo” in a hankerchief and a cherry lipbalm or magic lipgloss are what we consider as beauty products for the young ones 😄 Almost no one would take the time to groom or trim and fill in their brows. Panipisan nga ang labanan 😂 Di ako pala-makeup that time but I wish I knew then what I know now 😆 I realized it’s amazing how makeup and self care has evolved now to give people a chance to enhance our physical features and be more confident with our looks. I remember watching my tita put on her makeup and was just amazed how it looked on her. I would sometimes mess with my grandma’s makeup, a shimmery 3-color eyeshadow palette, without her knowing, just to try and see how it would look on me. I didn’t like it on me though 😂 I didn’t know how to use it properly obviously 😅 but naa-amaze ako pag ibang tao naglalagay sa mukha nila.

Anyway, fast forward to 1st year college, I was a working student at a local bakery and sa work I had to put minimal makeup, I used an Avon lipstick I think.. I might’ve used it as lipstick and blush na ata.. dual purpose 😄 tas I experienced my first real heartbreak 💔 I remember makeup was my form of therapy noon. I bought a black eyeliner and I would use it on my waterline.. emo vibes?! and I drew it on so thick that another tita commented it didn’t suit me.

Another fail nanaman sa application ng makeup but it made me feel that I could take on anything.. heartbreak? what heartbreak?! charot! I was crying patago at the cash register at work 😭 pero yun na nga, kahit papano, it helped me maka-move on in my pre-20s.

In the past, my ex’s mom and I would bond over makeup, doing makeovers and watching makeup videos kaya nakahiligan ko din magmakeup-makeup noon at dun talga ako nakapagstart magpractice mag-apply ng makeup on myself.

Ako ang naging pala-make up ng relatives ko kapag my mga family or personal events, from prom ng cousin ko to impromptu makeup sessions with the family kapag reunion and I even did my sister-in-law’s makeup sa civil wedding nila ng brother ko.

Nag-i-start na dumami mga pinapanood ko sa YouTube and of course dahil mahilig naman ako magselfie-selfie and edit videos, I started my first YouTube channel and upload random stuff there. One of which is my first makeup tutorial video. 🥰 I just re-watched it (see below video) and you’ll also see na super simple lang ng makeup look na ginawa ko. Wala din masyadong prep sa face but I think the results were okay sa standards ng makeup that time haha! Very limited lang ang brush na gamit ko unlike ngayon madami ng types of brushes na pwedeng gamitin for a more polished makeup look.

I can say na malayo na din narating ng skills ko sa pagme-makeup kahit papaano and I really enjoy doing it. I know that I can still improve pa & learn more skills as I continue to do it and share my experience and creations with everyone using different social media platforms. I’m excited for what lies ahead sa pag-join ko sa beauty and makeup community in creating educational, entertaining and inspirational content. With my creative skills, I hope to inspire people & give joy to them, too. To the people who supported me all these years and sa mga susuporta in the future, maraming salamat po! 🙏🏼🥰
